Can't wait to have my own class!

Student teaching was a great experience! Our first lesson was an hour, and we needed three! So we learned to cut things a bit shorter, and the rest turned out really good. The students tuned in and it was fun doing continual assessments to see what they were learning. Our coop teacher was expecting her new whiteboard to be hooked up, but it didn't happen. However, the other sixth grade classes had their boards up and running, and it was a huge asset for the teacher and students alike. Renee and I enjoyed working together and meshing ideas to come up with even better ones. I can see the benefit of working with a team of teachers to make learning even more fun. Sharing and 'stealing ideas' are essential, and how did the world go round without the internet???

Field Experience - It Gets Better!

The second week was awesome! We were able to teach most of our lessons and the students seemed to learn and enjoy. The favorite was the art lesson, and because of our creative display, another teacher asked if we could teach it to her class this week! (Of course we accepted with honor).

6th GRADE FIELD EXPERIENCE

The first week was a real learning experience for me. While observing the class, I realized I had set expectations far too high for the young sixth graders. Many of them come from homes with no computer technology available, and are struggling with the basic math and reading skills. Yet, the hope that shines through their eyes, and their eagerness to achieve is apparent. I look forward to spending more time teaching this week, and have changed my expectations to exciting challenges in teaching.
