DIGITAL STORYTELLING - YOU'RE GOING TO LOVE THIS ASSIGNMENT!

STUDENTS -
How do you feel about school??? This is your chance to tell everyone about a school experience, or share what you like or don't like about school, by making your own movie! Use the following instructions (and helps) to walk you through the simple process:

To begin with, look up the following websites to get an idea of what you'll be doing:

SEVEN IMPORTANT STEPS:
1. Point of View - In this assignment, it will be from your point of view, as it is about how you feel about school.

2. Use your gift of voice - You will personalize your story by telling it yourself. This will help the other students connect to your story.

3. Use Economy - This means that you don't need to say everything, but by showing good pictures and telling your audience just enough, it will make a rich story.

4. Images - Use strong images that represent the way you want to make your audience feel. (Remember to use pictures 640 x 480 or larger). The images are one of the most important parts, as you will use them to answer questions in your movie without saying a word.

5. Music - This is really important. It sets the mood and deepens the effect of your story. You could even use just music with no words and still get your point across.

6. Sound - This could be a narration, or you may use other sounds like a clock ticking or water running. (All sounds will be downloaded from i-tunes).

7. Pacing - This will keep the audience engaged. Don't go too slow or too fast or you will lose their attention.

We'll begin by making a storyboard for your stories. Decide what you want to do, then look for pictures. These may come from many different sources. Creative commons is a great place to look, which will lead you to other sites. (All of these are available to use, just check the creator's copywright requests.)

Once you have your storyboard put together, including pictures and captions, music and sounds, we will begin making it into a movie. The first time always takes a little longer, but you'll quickly learn what to do and you'll be making your own stories by yourselves before you know it, and publishing them, too!
